TERMS & CONDITIONS 

When booking, it is assumed that all clients have read and agree with all the points noted in the terms and conditions.

PAYMENT 

  • A deposit 0f £100 per event booked will be requested at the time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable should you cancel.
  • The booking is not secured until payment is received. 
  • No days can be "pencilled in" until a deposit is received. 
  • The final balance request will be sent 7 days prior to the booking. 
  • The payment will be requested from Stripe secure payment system. It will come via email and once payment is made you will receive an automated receipt. 
  • On occasion, payment may also be made by bank transfer or cash, please ask for details.

CANCELLATIONS 

  • In the event of cancellation on your part:
    • Deposits are non refundable.
    • No refunds can be made once the final balance has been paid within 7 days of the event*

*Unless we are able to resell the day, in which case we will refund in full less the deposit amount. We advise that you take out cancellation and curtailment insurance to cover these costs.

  • In the event of cancellation on our part:
    • The ghillie will decide if the weather conditions determine that to commence an activity would be dangerous, in this instance, we will firstly try and reschedule activities. 
    • Should Skye Ghillie have to cancel due to bad weather and or any other reason a full refund will be made including deposit.

 

INSURANCE

  • Skye Ghillie holds the relevant insurance to escort clients on these activities, however:
    • It is advised that clients take out their own suitable insurance prior to engaging in these activities.
    • Skye ghillie does not accept any liability for any personal injury, death, illness or loss of client’s property.
    • If you are unable to carry on during an activity and cancel or leave, for reasons of fitness, minor injury or any other personal choice where we are not responsible, this falls under our cancellation policy above.
    • Travel to a venue with Skye Ghillie does not include personal insurance and is entirely at client’s risk.
    • Any loss or damage to Skye Ghillie property will incur a charge

GENERAL

Safety 

  • Any activity may be cancelled/postponed should safety become an issue. The guide’s decision is final.
  • Clients agree to adhere to the rules of any water fished.
  • Alternative fishing/walking sites may be offered in case of bad weather.
  • Life jackets must be worn in the boat, deep wading and while sea angling from rocks.
  • Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Dogs maybe allowed but only depending on activity and location, in which case dogs must be on a lead at all times.
  • A risk assessment has to be viewed and signed by any client prior to commencement of any activity
  • Skye Ghillie reserves the right to cancel an event without notice or refund should a client not be appropriately dressed or seem to be under the influence of alcohol/banned substances

 

Wild Life activities 

Unfortunately, wild animals do not appear on demand, patience and a wee bit of luck are required, we therefore cannot guarantee you will see certain animals, though more often than not, we do. 

  • Under the prevention of wildlife crime, no items are to be removed from the field (feathers, bones, shells etc.)
  • In the interest of wildlife welfare please do not disclose the whereabouts of wildlife and rare plants on any social media sites
  • Clients agree to adhere to the rules of any water fished i.e. 
    • All salmon and sea trout must be released (Skye and Wester Ross fisheries agreement)
    • Trout and salt water fish may only be kept at your guide’s discretion

Travel

The standard meeting place is Portree, clients can follow Skye Ghillie to the location in their own vehicle or be transferred in the Land Rover (up to 6 persons) no vehicle fees are charged for transportation. However, if additional transport is required i.e. collection of guests from outside the Portree meeting place, travelling time will be incorporated into the set time parameter of the activity and costs will be charged.  

Weather 

  • In the event of cancellation on our part:
    • The ghillie will decide if the weather conditions determine that to commence an activity would be dangerous, in this instance, we will firstly try and reschedule activities. Failing this a full refund will be made.
  • Should clients decide to cancel due to inclement weather, and not Skye Ghillie, our standard cancellation policy applies.

Clothing and kit 

It is strongly recommended that suitable clothing is worn (or carried). Skye Ghillie reserves the right to cancel an event without notice or refund should a client not be appropriately dressed. As a minimum, guests should dress for all four seasons in one day, layers, good waterproofs and sturdy lace-up walking boots.

Skye is an outdoor island so these are items that you will need and be useful throughout your trip. 

  • Sturdy lace up boots
  • Waterproof jacket & trousers
  • Warm layers
  • Water bottle 
  • Gloves & hat
  • Sunglasses (fishing)
  • Insect repellent (advisable) 
  • Snacks / Lunch if full day
